Simon, Hannah and Betty met up with the Swiss friends that met earlier in the trip in Nairobi, and spent a day in Nairobi itself shopping etc.  They then hit the trail North and were interviewed on air passing Mount Kenya.  From there they have moved to  The Jade Sea and the "Cradle of Civilisation " as Leakey called.  Its not where "Lucy" was dicovered, that's in Tanzania, But the Leakeys did a lot of archaeology here.

The Jade Sea is called Jade cos of its colour, and  it is home to an enormous number of crocodiles.

On Monday 11th feb they spent most of the day looking for a road, and with the help of a local, in exchange for water, he showed them where the road was.  They had travelled some distance  on sandy desert.  Long Way Down didn't like the Kenyan roads, was this an improvement?

Short broken message on Thursday, giving most of a position beside a Lake.   Lake Langano about 200km from Addis fits the bill.  Hope for confirmation sometime.
