Schools Programme

n508197731_43743_40135.jpgAlongside the expedition, the A2O team offer you and your school the chance to ‘come with them to Africa to learn about Africa’s Culture, Beauty, some of its problems and also be given an insight into planning an expedition of this magnitude.

The program is aimed at all children from Infant to 6th form. Each program is tailored for the audience; it can be developed by the schools and can even be transferred to other youth groups.

The Team is offering a 3 part program made up of:

Pre-expedition activity day: Learning about Africa, its many positives and negatives. Learning about expedition planning, seeing and handling the Landover and kit the expedition will be using.

Expedition: The team will communicate directly with the schools via the internet to answer questions and show students what the real Africa is about. This can take on many different levels, from TV links in real time; pre recorded video clips, email, phone conversations etc. The team suggest that this part of the expedition is coupled with a project so students are encouraged to ask questions that are directed toward study.

Post expedition Round up: The team will go back to the schools once home to do a full post expedition review, this will focus on areas talked about in the pre expedition talk, wonders of the expedition.

The program is designed to bring about as close to a hands on experience of the real Africa, to bring about understanding of another continent and the cultures within it. The team believes that these experiences will bring about understanding and knowledge which will minimise the, if not destroy any misconceptions that exist between Africa and Great Britain.
